Daily coronavirus death figures for Lancashire as UK total rises by 115
Written by Skywave Radio News on June 1, 2020
Two more people have died from coronavirus at hospital trusts operating in Lancashire, according to today’s NHS figures.
One patient died at Blackpool hospitals on May 31 while another patient died at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals on May 25.
No deaths were recorded at East Lancashire Hospitals, University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay Trust, which manages Royal Lancaster Infirmary, or Southport and Ormskirk hospitals
The figures which are released each day often include previously uncounted deaths that took place several days or even weeks ago.
This is because of the time it takes for deaths to be confirmed as testing positive for Covid-19, for post-mortem examinations to be processed, and for data from the tests to be validated.
The number of people who have died across England, Scotland and Wales after contracting coronavirus has risen by 115 in 24 hours.
The increase consists of 108 hospital patients in England, one person in Scotland, one person in Northern Ireland and five hospital patients and care home residents in Wales.
England’s figures include 13 deaths recorded as taking place on Sunday, 40 on Saturday, and the rest stretching as far back as March 19.
So far, no UK-wide figures from the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) have been released, so the total is taken from each nation’s individual reporting.
It brings the working total to 38,604.
An NHS England spokesperson said: “A further 108 people, who tested positive for the Coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 26,722.
“Patients were aged between 29 and 99 years old. 16 of the 108 patients (aged between 48 and 94) had no known underlying health condition. Their families have been informed.”
On June 1, the total figures for coronavirus related deaths at Lancshire hospitals currently stand at:
Blackpool teaching Hospitals NHS Trust – 186
Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust – 208
University Hospitals Of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust – 162
East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust – 186
Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust – 138
