Three more coronavirus death has been recorded at Lancashire hospitals, according to today’s NHS figures.
Two patients died at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals, including one on May 30 and one on June 2.
One patient died at Southport and Ormskirk hospitals on June 2.
No deaths were recorded at East Lancashire Hospitals, Lancashire Teaching Hospitals, which manages Preston and Chorley, and University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay.
It brings the Lancashire hospitals death toll to 890.
The figures which are released each day often include previously uncounted deaths that took place several days or even weeks ago.
This is because of the time it takes for deaths to be confirmed as testing positive for Covid-19, for post-mortem examinations to be processed, and for data from the tests to be validated.
The North West is once again one of the worst regions in terms of death figures today with 22 confirmed.
Only the Midlands posted a higher total with 24, while the South West recorded only eight new deaths.
The UK’s coronavirus death toll in hospitals has now risen by 133 to 31,469.
The tragic figure includes 115 deaths in England, nine in Scotland, eight in Wales and one in Northern Ireland.
It is a drop of nearly 40% on yesterday’s 215 fatalities among coronavirus patients – the highest figure in two weeks.
A week ago health authorities reported 213 deaths among coronavirus patients in hospitals.
The true number of lives lost to the virus is far higher, with official figures revealing it has crossed 50,000.
In a statement, NHS England said: “A further 115 people, who tested positive for the Coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 27,159.
“Patients were aged between 26 and 100 years old. Five of the 115 patients (aged between 53 and 97) had no known underlying health condition. “Their families have been informed.
