Four Lancs hospital trusts record new Covid-19 deaths as toll nears 900

Eight more coronavirus deaths have been recorded across four Lancashire hospital trusts, according to today’s NHS figures.
Three patients died at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals, which manages Preston and Chorley, on June 2.
Blackpool Teaching Hospitals said two patients died, including one on May 29 and one on June 4.
Two patients died at East Lancashire Hospitals on June 4 and one patient died at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay on June 3.
No deaths were recorded at Southport and Ormskirk hospitals.
It brings the Lancashire hospitals death toll to 898.
The figures which are released each day often include previously uncounted deaths that took place several days or even weeks ago.
This is because of the time it takes for deaths to be confirmed as testing positive for Covid-19, for post-mortem examinations to be processed, and for data from the tests to be validated.
The hospital death toll in the UK has now climbed to 31,610 after 141 people died in the past 24 hours.
The tragic figure includes 123 deaths in England, 14 in Scotland and a further 4 deaths in Wales. Northern Ireland will report its figure later today.
Yesterday saw the the UK’s coronavirus death toll in hospitals rise by 133 to 31,469, according to statistics the Department of Health.
The UK currently has the second highest Covid-19 death toll in the world after the US with over 50,000 people dying from confirmed or suspected cases of the disease in all settings.
On June 5, the total figures for coronavirus related deaths at Lancshire hospitals currently stand at:
Blackpool teaching Hospitals NHS Trust – 191
Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust – 215
University Hospitals Of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust – 163
East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust – 190
Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust – 139
