Lancashire coronavirus NHS death figures for Wednesday, June 10

Written by on June 10, 2020

Eight more coronavirus deaths have been recorded across Lancashire hospital trusts, according to today’s NHS figures.

Five deaths were recorded at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals. They include two on June 8, one on June 6, one on May 21 and one on May 18.

Lancashire Teaching Hospitals, which manages Preston and Chorley hospitals, recorded three deaths. Two patients died on June 8 and one died on June 7.

No deaths were recorded at East Lancashire Hospitals, University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust and Southport and Ormskirk Hospitals

It brings the Lancashire hospitals death toll to 932.

The figures which are released each day often include previously uncounted deaths that took place several days or even weeks ago.

This is because of the time it takes for deaths to be confirmed as testing positive for Covid-19, for post-mortem examinations to be processed, and for data from the tests to be validated.

The number of people who have died across the UK after contracting coronavirus has risen by at least 109 in 24 hours.

This includes 88 hospital patients in England, 12 people in Scotland and nine hospital patients and care home residents in Wales. Northern Ireland has reported no new deaths for the fourth day running.

So far, no UK-wide figures from the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) have been released, so the total is taken from each nation’s individual reporting.

It brings the death toll up to 40,992. The government tally, when it is released later today, will be higher as it includes deaths in care homes and the community.

An NHS England spokesperson said: “A further 88 people, who tested positive for the coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 27,707.

“Patients were aged between 43 and 102 years old. Three patients (aged between 53 and 87) had no known underlying health conditions. Their families have been informed.”

On June 10, the total figures for coronavirus related deaths at Lancashire hospitals currently stand at:

Blackpool teaching Hospitals NHS Trust – 210

Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust – 222

University Hospitals Of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust – 164

East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust – 193

Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust – 143
