Preston’s Shankly Hotel could open by the end of the year

The team behind Preston’s Shankly Hotel has revealed that the hospitality venue could open its doors by the end of 2020.
Company Signature Living took on the former Post Office overlooking the Flag Market in Preston city centre in 2018 with grand hopes of turning it into the city’s most luxurious place to stay.
But when the scheduled opening in the autumn of 2019 was missed and work ground to a halt, questions were asked as to what is happening with the site as times goes by.
Now Signature Living has said the doors could finally swing open at some point in 2020 – but no date has been revealed as of yet.
Speaking to news website Blog Preston, a spokesperson for Signature Living said: “We are delighted that work is beginning on our Shankly Preston hotel.
“We do not have a date as of yet, but we are hoping it will be towards the end of the year.
“Please keep up to date and in contact with our social media.”
A Preston City Council spokesperson told LancsLive: “We’re pleased work has resumed.”
The positive step comes despite six Signature Living subsidiary firms collapsed into administration in May.
This included some of the firm’s most high profile developments like The Shankly, 30 James Street and The Bling Bling building in Liverpool.
Issues arose as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
But Signature Living’s founder Lawrence Kenwright has stayed silent on the issue, reports the Liverpool Echo, with all enquiries on these matters now being handled through the various administrators involved.
LancsLive contacted Signature Living Lawrence Kenwright on multiple occasions for further information but received no response.
