Weekend weather for Lancashire as thunderstorms to hit
Written by Skywave Radio News on June 12, 2020
The sun that has shone brightly for the majority of lockdown has quickly been replaced by rain – and lots of it in some areas of Lancashire.
And for the weekend (June 13 and 14), it doesn’t show any signs of stopping.
Things will get worse, in fact, with the Met Office predicting thunderstorms and heavy rain for parts of the red rose county.
Like with many thunderstorms, the temperature will rise, some 22 degrees Celsius in some areas.
So while it might feel like barbecue whether – it seems like it most certainly will not be for most areas.
This is the weather forecast for Lancashire across Saturday and Sunday, according to experts at the Met Office:
The temperature in Preston is set to reach 22 degrees Celsius on both Saturday and Sunday.
But be warned, as thunderstorms are predicted for early Saturday afternoon, with rain until the evening.
The sun will come out in the late evening in what could be a nice sunset over the city.
Sunday looks fairer, with no rain forecast. The day will remain overcast.
Like Preston, Blackpool is also set for temperatures in the low twenties over the weekend.
Thunderstorms are also predicted but to a worse extent, starting around midday and lasting until around 5pm.
The sun could come out between 7pm and 9pm, leading to picturesque views overlooking the Promenade.
Sunday is set to be wet for most of the day following brief sunny spells in the morning.
In Lancaster, Saturday will be dominated by spells of both heavy rain and sunshine.
Temperatures will reach the early twenties
Sunday will be similar, with forecasts predicting rain and sunshine.
Brief thunder showers are expected in Blackburn on Saturday afternoon before clearing for an evening of sunshine.
Temperatures will set in the high teens.
Sunday will see brief sunshine with overcast weather predicted for most of the day.
No thunderstorms are predicted for Burnley.
But Saturday wont be great either, with a mixture of overcast and rain taking up most of the day before brief sunshine in the evening.
Sunday will be dominated by similar weather.
Temperatures will reach the low twenties over both days.
