Lancashire weather live: Thunderstorms set to hit the county

Written by on June 16, 2020

Lancashire is preparing for another two days of thunder, lightning and torrential rain after the Met Office issues fresh warnings for the county.

Two yellow weather warnings for thunderstorms have been issued by the national weather service, covering all of Lancashire.

This includes Preston, Morecambe, Lancaster, Blackpool, Burnley, Blackburn, Accrington, Rossendale, Clitheroe, and Nelson.

Flooding is likely to happen and could happen very quickly.

Lightning strikes and hail could also bring further disruption as the whole North West is battered by the extreme weather.

Villages could also be cut off due to flood water with power cuts also expected.

The first weather warning is in place from 1.30pm this afternoon (June 16) and will last until 6am tomorrow (June 17).

The second goes live at midday tomorrow and will last until 9pm.
