Man shouts racist abuse at 12-year-old from passing car in Preston

An appeal is underway after a man yelled racist abuse at a 12-year-old child from a passing car.
The incident happened on Fylde Road in Preston city centre, near to the junction of Kirkham Street, on Saturday (June 20) at around 6.15pm.
Police say a man in a passing car allegedly shouted racist abuse at the young girl who was walking in the street at the time.
Officers are keen to trace the driver of a small black hatchback, which they have on CCTV, in relation to the incident.
Lancashire Constabulary says it takes hate crimes “very seriously” and an appeal is now underway for anyone who was in the area at the time.
CCTV enquiries remain ongoing.
A spokesperson for Preston Police said: “We are appealing for information following a racially aggravated public order incident which occurred on Fylde Road in Preston, near to the junction of Kirkham Street, on Saturday June 20th at approximately 18:15.
“It is alleged that a male in a passing car has shouted some racist abuse at a twelve year old girl who was walking in the street at the time.
“Hate crimes are taken very seriously, and we are appealing to anyone who may have been in the area at the time, particularly if you might have any dashcam footage, to come forward and assist with our enquiries. We are eager to trace the driver of a small black hatchback which we have on CCTV in the area at the time. Our CCTV enquiries are ongoing.”
