Man spotted with machete amid huge crowds at Pear Tree pub

A man has been sighted walking through Penwortham with a machete.
Police were called at 10pm last night (June 25) to reports of a large number of people on Middlefroth Green behind the Pear Tree pub.
It was also reported that a man had been seen with a machete.
Lancashire Constabulary attended the scene but the man had left the area, say police.
Enquiries are ongoing to find the man.
It was reported on social media that a stabbing had taken place, but Lancashire Police confirmed this did not occur.
No injuries were reported and the crowd was later dispersed with no further issues.
A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said: “Police were called at about 10pm last night (Thursday, June 25) to a report of a large number of people on parkland at the back of the Pear Tree public house in Penwortham and that a man had been seen with a machete.
“Officers attended but the man is believed to have left the area. Enquiries are on-going to trace them.
“No injuries were reported.
“The crowd was subsequently dispersed with no further issues.”
