Preston primary school closed after reported sickness outbreak

A primary school has suddenly closed after a reported staff sickness outbreak.
St Patrick’s Catholic Primary in Walton-le-Dale was closed today (July 1) to all pupils, including key worker children.
It is not yet known if the sickness is due to coronavirus.
More pupils have started returning to the Higher Walton Road school after the go-ahead was given by Lancashire County Council last month.
It comes after the government relaxed the lockdown rules allowing pupils from reception, year 1 and year 6 to return.
An LCC spokesman said: “St Patrick’s Primary School, in Walton-le-Dale, has been closed temporarily as a precautionary measure following a reported sickness outbreak.
“We are working with Public Health England, and following their advice and guidance.
“We are currently making alternative arrangements for our vulnerable children, and those of our key workers who need our support for care at this time.
“Parents are being kept fully informed.”
