Car hits lamp post on Chorley road near M61 causing traffic delays

A car has crashed into a lamp post near the M61 in Chorley.
Emergency services were called to the A674 Millennium Way earlier this afternoon (July 2).
One lane has been closed by police shortly before 2pm from Junction 8 of the M61 to the A6 Preston Road (Hartwood Roundabout).
The incident is causing heavy congestion in the area.
No details have been released of any injuries.
Traffic website, Inrix, said: “One lane closed and queueing traffic due to accident, a car involved on A674 Millennium Way Westbound from M61 J8 (Chorley) to A6 Preston Road (Hartwood Roundabout).
“Lane one (of two) remains closed just off the roundabout following a vehicle going into a lamppost affecting traffic heading into Chorley.
“The road was closed until around 13:55.”
