Written by on July 4, 2020

A man has suffered serious injuries after crashing his mountain bike into a wall in Preston city centre.

The incident happened in the early hours of Friday morning (July 4) at at around 4.30am.

The man, who is from Preston and in his 40s, was found unresponsive in Market Street.

He was rushed to Royal Preston Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

Officers from Lancashire Police believe had been on an adapted electric mountain bike which crashed into a wall.

Police are now investigating the circumstances of that collision.

Sgt Steve Hardman, of Lancashire Constabulary’s Serious collisions unit, said: “This incident has left a man with some very significant injuries and my thoughts at this difficult time are with his family and friends.

“If anyone witnessed the incident or the moments leading up to the collision or has CCTV within the city centre that may have captured this, please get in contact with us as due to the time the incident is believed to have occurred understandably there has been little footfall within the city.”

Anyone with information should contact police on 101 quoting log number 0159 of July 3.
