Written by on July 5, 2020

We are appealing for information after two people were seriously injured when a vehicle was deliberately driven into them.

The incident happened at about 1.45am today (Sunday, July 5th) on Newchurch Road in Bacup when there was an altercation outside the Rose and Crown pub.

One of those involved left the scene before returning in a vehicle, mounting the kerb and colliding with two people.

One of them, a 23-year-old from Rossendale, suffered serious leg injuries. The second, an 18-year-old from Rawtenstall, suffered more minor injuries.

The vehicle drove off from the scene and enquiries are on-going to trace the occupants.

Detective Inspector Mel Kelly, of East CID, said: “This is a very serious incident where it would appear that a vehicle has been used as a weapon and driven deliberately at two people causing significant injury to one casualty.

“Our enquiries are on-going in an effort to trace the vehicle involved and its occupants.

“I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have CCTV or dashcam footage, to get in touch.”

Anyone with information should contact police on 101 quoting log number 0211 of July 5th.
