Covid changes inside Michelin starred Moor Hall’s sister venue

Written by on July 7, 2020

The Barn at Moor Hall has reopened under strict Covid-secure rules, with the two Michelin starred Moor Hall set to follow suit later in July

The sister venue of Lancshire’s premiere restaurant has reopened its doors with strict Covid-secure policies in place.

The Barn at Moor Hall, reopened today (July 7) after more than three months shut under the coronavirus lockdown.

The casual eatery, which is described as a ‘neighbourhood restaurant’, is the brainchild of Moor Hall’s chef patron Mark Birchall.

Chorley-born Mark has transformed Moor Hall at Aughton, near Ormskirk, into the number one rated restaurant in the UK, according to SquareMeal’s top 100 restaurant.

It has two Michelin stars as well as five rosettes under the AA Restaurant Guide.

And while Moor Hall is set to reopen on Wednesday, July 22, The Barn is now allowing customers in for private dining on tables of up to four of six.

There will be temperature checks for guests on arrival as well as hand washing and sanitising stations for guests and staff.

Glass screens are visible between indoor tables at The Barn and staff will be using PPE.

Customers can also only pay by card, including Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay.

In The Barn, head chef Nathan Cornwell will offer a slightly reduced À La Carte menu.

Outdoor dining on its patio is also available overlooking Moor Hall and its lake.

And in a change to normal policy, deposits are not being taken for July and August bookings with cancellation fees also waived for the time being.

In an open letter to guests, Mr Birchall said: “The team and I have been working hard to ensure we make your next visit safe and comfortable, whilst retaining the warm welcome, relaxed setting, and special experience that Moor Hall is renowned for.

“We are very fortunate to have spacious lounges, bars, dining areas and gardens, which allow us to comply with social distancing and other Public Health England (PHE) guidelines easier than most establishments.

“Restaurant capacities will reflect PHE guidelines, and we are seating tables of up to six people maximum in The Barn, four in Moor Hall Restaurant and six in our Private Dining Room. Outdoor dining at The Barn is also available, and we have parasols and patio heaters to hand.

“To offer increased flexibility, we will not be taking deposits for new bookings made for July & August, and we will also waive cancellation charges over this period.

“Menus at The Barn will be revised and viewable via QR code on your smartphone, please download one of many free ‘QR Code Reader’ applications prior to your visit.”
