Woman charged in murder investigation

Detectives investigating the death of a baby in Blackpool have today (Friday, July 17) charged a woman with murder.
Police were called by the Ambulance Service around 7.30am on November 7, 2018, following reports a baby had been found unresponsive at an address on Frederick Street.
The eight-month-old baby girl, Francesca Haworth, was taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital for treatment but sadly later died.
A Home Office post mortem gave a cause of death as suffocation.
A man and woman, both aged 19 and from Blackpool, were initially arrested on suspicion of murder and released under investigation pending further enquiries.
Following consultation with the Crown Prosecution, Caitlin Jones, 21, of Willowbank Avenue, Blackpool, has today been charged with murder. She is due to appear at Blackpool Magistrates’ this afternoon.
The man has been released no further action.
