Preston North End midfielder Alan Browne has signed a new contract with the club.
It’s a huge boost for the Lilywhites and manager Alex Neil as North End’s number eight puts pen-to-paper on a new three-and-a-half deal at Deepdale.
The Irishman’s current deal was set to expire this summer meaning he could’ve left for free in the summer, or agreed a pre-contract agreement with another club abroad or in Scotland.
But the PNE captain has committed his future to North End, extending his stay in Lancashire until the summer of 2024.
Upon signing the new deal, Browne told the club website: “I have been here a long time and it is such a relief to get it over the line and have a few more years of me being at this fantastic club.
“Hopefully we can make the next coming years successful.
“It is time to take the next step with my career.
“I had different opinions from different people and I wanted to gather as many opinions as I possibly could I felt that this was the right decision for me.
“Hopefully I can progress with my own career, as well as with the football club.”
