Key motorway link road closed due to flooding with long delays

A key Preston link road to the M6 and M55 motorways has been forced to close due to severe flooding in the area.
James Towers Way at Broughton has been shut to traffic by police due to flooding in the area towards D’Urton Lane and the B6241 Eastway.
The old A6 Garstang Road is now back in use for the time being, with the bus lane cameras temporarily turned off so motorists do not get fined.
Long delays are expected in the area due to the closure of the key motorway link road.
Queues are already forming down Whittingham Lane and Woodplumpton Lane at Broughton.
A Lancashire Police spokesperson said: “James Towers Way at Broughton towards the M55 is closed due to flooding as is D’urton Lane to Eastway.
Please use the old A6 past the Mariott as a diversion.
“The bus lane cameras have been switched off and you can rejoin but please be warned, long delays are forming.
“This closure will likely be on well in to the evening.
“If you are planning to make an essential journey using this route then please allow plenty of extra time or find an alternative route.
“Lancashire County Council are working hard to try and clear D’Urton Lane to use as a better diversion.”
